how cool is THAT??

my favorite new TV show is ABC's Modern Family... laugh out loud funny! what a nice suprise when I was watching this week.. and as they panned across little baby Lily's room I spotted a drooz studio Rose lamp! I'd know those roses anywhere! check it out...

back to reality...

wow. what can I say? it was everything I had hoped - and so much more.

Silver Bella 2009. This weekend was really about meeting up with my college friend , Lisa. We get together each Fall to re-connect and start our Holiday shopping... (and the weekend must also include wine, good food, and LOTS of magazine flipping!) this year (after reading about Silver Bella in an 2008 issue of Country Living ) we decided to head to Omaha to have our girlfriend time. we are both creative gals - but were a bit nervous as to what to expect... these BELLAS take their crafting very serious! and we now know they also take friendliness, sharing, inspiration, and fun very serious too! Lisa and I arrived in Omaha Thurs afternoon ... we walked around historic downtown Old Market and explored a bit.

an artist/sign maker was just putting the finishing touches on a beautiful wall of store banners and advertisements... the back of his car looked just a bit worse than the back of MY car!
fried pickles at The Twisted Fork - yum!
cupcakes decorated at turkeys, and cherry & pumpkin pies at Wheatfields.
we browsed at the ever famous Second Chances - I was good and spent only $3.00 on a glass spoon!
drooled a bit at Hollywood Candy - what amazing retro and nostalgic candy selection!
amazing goodie bags from the generous Bella sponsors! so many treasures!wanna smell like a bella?Friday nites Vendor Faire - wow! it was in sensory overload...

me and Lisa ( in our aprons - required attire for the evening!)me and Jo Packman, editor of Where Women Create.Me and Jen from the Cottage Nest (one of my favorite blogs!) I also got to meet (finally in person after years of being an e-friend!) the adorable Amy Powers of Inspire Co.) - sorry Amy... i know I took a picture of us.. but I had just rolled out of bed.. and I could not bear to post it!
a beautiful bag of seam tape - I couldn't keep my hands off of IT!
goodies I made in Anna Corba's class...
my favorite project of the weekend - a Hodge Podge Journal made in Rebecca Sowers class! so now - back to reality... (the laundry and grocery shopping is almost caught up) but I do feel inspired and revived to get some new creative projects flowing!

let the magic begin!

here's an out of the box assignment for me... more of a challenge than I had anticipated - but much fun none the less! I was recently asked to design the Holiday Coloring contest for our local newspaper - easy huh? not really.

needs to be line art work only. (I now realize how much I rely on COLOR for texture, pattern, contrast and over all INTEREST! needs to be non-denominational, wintery holiday, not just "Christmas" . needs to be easy enough for the 6 year olds , but interesting enough for the twelve year olds! no teeny tiny details - remember, there will be crayons involved!

kinda cute, (however my daughter is not a fan of squirrels and was a bit freaked out that these little guys are snacking on candy canes and keeping warm with cocoa!) let's hope no other children are scarred for the holidays by my linear attempt to "let the magic begin"!

Omaha - here I come!

I'm getting ready to GO! Silver Bella starts tonight! here's what I'm bringing (I'm not too sure how I'll be getting my clothes to Omaha - looks like my suit case is full of paper, ribbons, glue and trim!)

here's what I'll be making - pretty things like this!

SACRED SILVER HEART with D. Sharp,VINTAGE CHARM BRACELET with Kaari Meng, BE MY GUEST... & A FRENCH COUNTRY HOLIDAY with Anna Corba HODGE PODGE JOURNAL with Rebecca Sower.

(pictures from silver bella studio)
Honestly - I'm quite nervous. these Silver Bella girls are very serious about their crafting - I hope I can hold own! There's a welcome night and group workshop with a "secret" guest presenter, a "Stardust" vendor faire, and a full day of workshops and a bella luncheon with Jo Packman - love her! I'm spending the weekend with a best friend from college and I'll also meeting many e-friends for the first time.
I'll be sure to bring my camera and take lots of pictures of the goings on!
